Scott and Cindy Nelsen have served as missionaries to the urban and rural poor of the Philippines for over 25 years. Scott was a member of First Baptist Elgin in his high school and college years while his dad pastored there (1978 to 1984). In 2019 the Nelsens relocated to the US but contine to serve through consultation and occasional travel to the Philippines.

Scott is a medical doctor who has provided free care for urban, rural and tribal poor. The clinic where he worked has provided a platform for training and discipling of both national and expatriate church planters among unreached people groups in Asia and Africa. He also provides medical support to church planters with a number of organizations and works closely with Ethnos 360 (formerly New Tribes Mission) focusing on unreached people groups.

Cindy is a teacher by training and evangelizes, disciples and educates children. Many of her first group are now adults who are both active in serving/discipling others and working professionally. Child to child work, involving the older children to teach the younger, is an exciting and fruitful component of her ministry.

A new working relationship with World Team mission is currently developing ways to serve the needs of neglected Muslim communities in both urban and rural areas. Prayer for wisdom, safety and effectiveness in this endeavor are very much appreciated.

Scott and Cindy have 3 children and 7 grandchildren.
